Everything you ever wanted to know about makeup and how to apply it

When a woman feels the need to enhance her beauty a little further, either by getting all dolled up for a night on the town, adding some zest, or just a subtle or dramatic amount of color to her complexion, the first item she will turn to is makeup. Makeup is comprised of several different items that can be broken down into three basic categories: foundational coverage for the face and cheeks, eye enhancement products, and lip cosmetics. Makeup works together to enhance a woman’s features, cover up blemishes that can make a women feel less attractive, highlight her own natural beauty, and boost confidence.

When a woman applies makeup, she will first begin by applying the foundation. The foundation is usually a liquid cover up that will match the individual’s skin tone and is applied on the entire face, or, in some cases a concealer stick is used for spot treating blemishes, whatever the situation, both are utilized to even out skin tone and hide blemishes. The foundational coverage is probably every girl’s and woman’s best friend, to us it almost acts as a magic potion that can subtly or very dramatically purify our skin tone, and make every woman and girl look and feel flawless, and in turn, boost self esteem and add a ray of confidence! When a woman feels beautiful she feels radiant, and her radiance will be a presence felt all others around her. To finalize the new found radiance, a loose powder that matches the color of the skin may be dusted lightly onto the face and will create a matte finish to control shine giving the makeup long lasting durability. And finally to define the cheek bones and/or create definition, blush or bronzer may be used, depending on preference, both, are applied on the apples of the cheeks where the cheek is most predominant, this gives a sense of luminosity. Blush serves as a natural rosy hue, as apposed to bronzer that adds a glow of warmth to the cheeks. Blush and bronzer both provide definition and a touch of femininity to the cheeks and can make a woman feel pretty. All of these primary face and cheek applications work together to even out skin tone by covering up unwanted imperfections that a woman may find embarrassing, enhance facial features, such as the cheek bones, and not to mention make the woman feel simply ravishing.

After applying the overall foundation for the face, the second step is to enhance the eyes, for this, a woman will use eye liner, eyeshadow, and mascara. Enhancing the eyes is very important, every woman wants her eyes to be noticed and admired by others, and this procedure serves for that exact purpose. First to be applied will be the eyeliner. Eyeliner can be a pencil or liquid, depending upon preference. It is usually a darker color (mostly black or brown) and outlines the shape of the eyes. Eyeliner complements the eyes by acting as a frame and drawing attention and focus to the eyes. Next eye shadow is swept across the eyelid to add color either to enhance the color of the eyes or to match an outfit she is wearing that day, either way, for a woman it is a fun, expressive way of adding some pizzazz to her look. Lastly mascara is used to darken the eyelashes and is applied with a small wand-like-applicator with tiny bristles on one end that gently brush the eyelashes with a tint of color. Mascara opens the eyes making them appear larger and reinforces an attraction to the them.

Once the eyes have been dolled up, the third and final step will be to dress the lips. Lipstick or lip gloss is a nice finishing touch to any makeup application. Lipstick is a stick of soft creamy color that can range from any number of colors and is applied on the lips. It can add a touch of drama, such as a red, or a hot pink lipstick color, or it can be soft and subtle, such as a light pink, or a pale peach color. Lipstick colorfully paints the lips with a matte finish and can make a woman feel beautiful. Lip gloss, however, can be a clear, shimmery, or lightly tinted lip wear that adds a glossy shine to the lips that makes them appear moist and enticing, only enhancing their natural beauty and making a woman feel attractive as well as playful.

With makeup’s many applicators working together, it is easy to see why a woman would want to use it.
